DIVORCE IN ITALY AND BRITAIN
A law to permit divorce in Italy would be opposed by most people, according to the Italian Gallup Poll, which has found — 53 per cent, of Italians against having a law for divorce. 16 per cent, in favour, and 31 per cent, without a definite opinion either wav. At the same time the British Gallup Poll asked a nation-wide cross-section of people if they %ould approve a law to permit divorce simply by agreement between the two parties. Only 27 per cent, of people interviewed in Britain said they favoured divorce by mutual consent: 61 per cent, oppose it, and 12 per cent, are undecided.
