ANTI-RED AND RED SCHOOLS IN U.S.

NEW YORK, May 14.

The Methodist General Conference has endorsed a proposal to train missionaries in Communist ideas, and then send them ‘‘to spread Christianity” in Communist centres.

Dr. Ralph Diffendorfer, originator of the plan, said such missionaries would not be able to get behind the "iron curtain,” but they could be sent to every country where there was Communist infiltration. He hoped to get at least 200 workers trained. The conference yesterday unanimously elected a negro member on its board of governors for the first time. The secretary of the American Communist Party, Mr. Henry Winston, reported that schools to traiii 5000 Communist leaders were being, organised. He admits that the party is losing strength in some basic industries. He wants more aggressive recruiting and says the party must control the automobile, railroad, maritime and meatpacking workers.^
