GOOD EVEN FIELDS CARDED FOR NAPIER PARK MEETING

(Herald Special Service.) POR the Napier Park Racing Club's steeplechase meeting, to be held at Greenmeaclows on Saturday and Monday, good even fields are carded. Maybe the class is not the best, but for a minor fixture the response from trainers and owners is most satisfactory and, given fine weather, a good profit should result.

The course has dried out a little since last Saturday. The Maiden event will be run as two separate races, while the last event on the card, the six-furlong hack race, has been divided into two divisions, but possibly this may be avoided. MOTEO HACK HUEDLES

Gyros (7), 8.2, is not a confident recommendation. Master Kip (14), 8.1, surprised at Hastings in April over a half-mile shorter course. Those weighted on the minimum who look the best on form are Premier (4) Golden Hope (3), and Neap Tide (18), ★NAPIER HACK STEEPLES Timothy (3) 9.11, is hard to passover so poor is the class represented in this race. Solo Park (4), 9.4, has very little to recommend his chances on, but one day at Napier ran into the money in a hurdle race. . Light Tea (6). 9.3, is an experienced ’chaser and on his fourth at Woodville to Vassilikos, Vernon and Imperial Crown might be elected facourite now. Find Out -(1),' 9.0, would only have to remain on his feet to collect this

Nanook (4), 10.11, is a smart jumper, but the want of a race with his present impost may not be in his favour. However he is a place possibility. Tracer (12), 10.7, is a smart hurdler also over this distance and in such class and will have to be taken into consideration. Alderman (10), 9.12, is an unknown quantity and possibly may be reserved for the Strome Handicap and raced the second day in the hurdle event. Denny’s Gift (5). 9.11. has last week’s second to act as a guide. The one that beat him is absent this time.

Royal Duce (2), 9.7, is the right type and lias been schooling promisingly, but a race should do him good as he lacks confidence at present. Last week French Count did ever so much bettor with the colours up than he had done in private. Trig Point (9). 9-G. in his one hurdle race to date after being with the leaders throughout finished fourth. He may do better this time and is going to be hard to beat. Master Peter (1), 9.5 on his second to Master Meruit at Hastings in April, would appeal. Landfall (11), 9.4, has no hurdle form. General Lytup (6), 9.2, on his third a week ago is not lightly passed over. Sunshine Bay (7), 9.2, won on the flat at Levin but has not started in a hurdle race. Coming from Ashley Jenkins’ stable it is assumed that he has been taught correctly. Astrope (8), 9.0, will not be the favourite by any means. Twyford (3). 9.0, has not raced. MAIDEN SCUERY NO. 1 Bandmaster (10), 8.10, ran fourth last week over five furlongs and on that showing the extra furlong should be in his favour now. Cheerful Night, (7), 8.10, has a few placings on his sheet, but would need to improve on last week’s showing to win now. Lady Minler (3), 8.10. on her third in her last start at Woodville enters calculations. Master Shikari (11), 8.10, has no form. , MangaUti (1), 8.10, has not raced of late, but earlier in the season was promising. He will be one to beat this time. Miss Shirley (9). 8.10, has no form. Night View (13), 8.10, has no form, but ran a fair race last week over a mile. Snow Saint (4), 8.10, has been disappointing. Vaytham (15), 8.10, has no form. Bramble Leighon (10), 8.0, was never in the call last Saturday. Endowed (2), 8.0, has only had one race, but this Finis two-year-old is improving. Ivanhoe (6), 8.0, in his two races failed to show up. Melite (14), and New Look (5)„ both 8.0, have not yet raced. Royal Nuptial (12), 8.0, has no form. Thor (8), 8.0, galloped well enough the other morning at Hastings to suggest her being a place possibility. MAEEWA HACK HANDICAP > Blue Title (17), 8.10, is passed over in the meantime. Hazrcnc (8), 8.10, is not. reliable. Sir Warrior (13), 8.7, ran well enough the other day to be given a chance new. Lord Latour (12), 8.5, will find the extra distance from last week in his favour. Thole (15). 8.5 in his last start won over a mile at Te Aroha from a very fair field—-do not overlook that form. Comedy Star (2), 3.4, ran one of his many honest races last week to pay double figures for a place. He might do so again. Master Moti (5), 8.4, has just a rough place show. , , „ Belle Mignonne (1), 8.3. has failed of late, but is not without a show on previous form.

naniiiiiiiii»iuiiiiiimiifflMuiiiiiinit)i»iiiittuiuiiiiiniiiiniiuiHiiiiiiiiuiHiiiiiiiiiimiiiiinii!iP.iiiiiiii event, but bis jumping last week was always doubtful. However, he may be all the better for that experience—a risk that will have to be taken. . Sterling Gold (7), 9.0, had a little hurdle place form last season, which is the best that can be said for him. Gold Dip (5), has no form. Royal Swad (8), 9-0, is in the right condition, and several times in the past few months has been in minor places over hurdles. He is a possibility. Patahi (2), 9.0, is the "dark horse’’ of the race. ★STROME HANDICAP PRECEDENCY (5), 9.1, might be the logical favourite after his third at Levin a week ago. WELCOME GUEST (2), 8.13, is a very fit gelding and will only need to run up to his best to be very hard. However, he has often let his supporters down. DARK FLASH (8). 8.12, was third last week and always gives of his best. ALDERMAN (9), 8.6, on a third up Auckland way recently enters calculations. LOWRY BAY (6), 8.0, runs his best races at Napier. He might surprise, although his recent form is not fulERNBRAE (3), 8.0, is hard to recommend. OMAIO (1), 8.0, is just a rough place possibility. SINGING HILLS (4), 8.0, will have a track to his liking and is fit. but lack of form is not in his favour. ..FLARE PATH (7), 8.0, found the distance too far a week ago. He may improve with that race. MAIDEN SCURRY NO. 2 Master Chat (9), 8.10, has no form. Moteka (12), 8.10, ran a fair race last week so might be in the money. Minuet (10), 8.10, has place form on her chart. Flving Bridge (15), 8.10, disappointed last week when made tiic favourite and was never in the call. Salient (13), 8.10, has run well enough at times to say that he is not without winning chances now. Coast Patrol (G), 8.10, has no form to influence support. Lady Ililt in (7), 8.10, has racing condition and three times this season has

weighed-in, but also has often failed to do that.

Lady Kindine (5), 8.10, has not run up to her second earlier in the season. Swing Song (8), 8.0, has little form to help. Gold Circuit (11), 8.0, so far has failed to show the right form, but you never can tell. Chatty Maid (3), 8.0, has not raced, but on Tuesday galloped attractively. Miss Majesty (1), 8.0, has no form. Gay Lace (4), 8.0, has no form. Radiant Maid (14), 8.0, has not raced. ★FLYING HANDICAP

COT-CASE (9), 8.12, reserved from last Saturday for this week-end, should possess a very fair show. SORRELL (10), 8.12, will be one hard to keep out of a place. GILD CHASE (12), 8.11, if present may be one of the best liked. GARRY (5), 8.9, on his win last week may now be a favourite. PAVAALS (11), 8.7, is not counted out by any means. OMAIO (1), 8.2, might surprise. He has two engagements tomorrow and drew the “ace” in both. BONNIE FAIR (13), 8.2, was a fair third last Saturday at Levin. TUSSOCK (3), 8.1, might fluke into a Pl CUVE BELLE (7), 8.0, will have her following. BROWN ATOM (2), 8.0, is not a St HAWKE’S BAY (8), 8.0, is not fancied on recent form, the same applymg to BEAU DEVOIR (16), on the same mark. Mabel Knight (12), 8.11, is due any day from now on. Crispin (1), 8.11, won last week, which tact must be considered. Thole (10), 8.8, may prefer the mile and a quarter, but if started in this race would be duly considered. ' Monsto (4) B.G, has failed too often but won in the autumn in poor class. La Bian (3), 8.6. has a place show. Queen’s Parade (8), 8.6, adds interest to this heat. Vakura (11), 8.4, might require another race as last week he failed over the end of fve furlongs.
