RUGBY COMPETITIONS

BASKETBALL ATTRACTIONS IVEEK-ENI) SPORTS—TAKE ONE Competitions in Rugby, Association Football, hockey and basketball are being continued tomorrow throughout the Poverty Bay, East Coast and Walroa areas and in Gisborne an added sports attraction will be the first day’s play in the annual tournament of the Gisborne Indoor Basketball Association which has drawn teams from outside centres, including Auckland and Wellington.

Senior teams of the P.B. Rugby Union meet in the second series of games of the second round. Celtic and H. 5.0.8., who played a draw in the first round and hold equal second position on the ladder, are to provide the principal attraction on the Oval No. 1 ground, while Union and Marist meet on the adjoining field. In the first round Union took a 14-9 decision over Marist.

Also playing the second series of the second round, the unbeaten juniors, Old Boys, play H. 5.0.8., holders with Celtic of equal third position. H. 5.0.8. gave Old Boys a very close game in the first round, the scores being 9-8.

Teams of the intermediate division are to play the concluding series of the second round, the thirds commence the second round, the fourths play the second series of the second round and the fifths the fourth series of the first round.
