PEOPLE WANT TO SEE END OF CONTROLS

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 3. The result of the Australian referendum showed definitely that the people there wanted to see the end of controls said the chairman of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Mr. G. F. Johnston, this morning

The people in this country had the same wish, but, unfortunately, could not indicate this to the Government as well as Australia had done. The Auckland chamber, as well as others, had long urged that 'he controls could be removed or gradually n duced. While the Australian position had no bearing on that locally, it was certainly something to take heart frem. Other members agreed that the whole system of price levels and stabilisation was unbalanced. The Government should take note of the Australian decision and be prepared to face up to realities.
