IN FORCES FOR WEEK
DEEMED EX-SERVICEMAN
RESERVED DECISION
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 2. A man who served for seven days only in the armed forces is an exservicemen within the meaning of the regulations-
This ruling was given in a reserved decision in the Magistrate's Court by Mr. J. S. Hanna, S.M. The case was one in which a man who had served seven days in the forces when he was discharged as the result of an appeal by his employers was proceeded against for possession of the house in which he is at present residing. Counsel for the respondent submitted that, as he served in the armed forces, he came under the jurisdiction of the Act which protected ex-servicemen tenants from being dispossessed of their lodgings by owners who were not ex-servicemen.
Judgment was entered in the respondent's favour.
