i li.lj a.m.) LONDON, June 2. Hampshire in their first innings igainst the Australians at Southampton scored 195 runs. _ Australia at stumps had lost two wickets foi 54 Rain which made the wicker soft, delayed the start of the match. Hassett won the toss and sent the homeside in to bat.

In reply to a scratchy 195 by Hampshire, the Australians lost two for 54. ir, an hour before stumps. The wicket following the overnight rain was responsive to spin, but played slowly.
