Treble Rates for Miners
All six coal mines in the Huntly districts worked on Monday at the request of the Government to maintain production. The miners’ agreement provided for the observance of Monday as a holiday in lieu of Anzac Day. Treble rates were paid by the Mines Department to the miners for work done on Monday. The department has also requested that the miners work on Saturday, May Dav. which is also a holiday under the agreement. Treble rates will again be paid.
