FURTHER ASSOCIATION
GORE FAMILY AND ART (P.A.) WELLINGTON. April 27. Many years of association between the Gore family and art in Wellington will be further cemented by the appointment of Mr. Ross Gore as secretary of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and secretary to the committee of management of the National Art Gallery. Mr. Ross Gore, who was born in Wellington in 1904 and who had been an artist member of the academy since 1920, is the elder son of the late Mr. H. M. Gore, a former secretary and president of the academy and one of the founders of the National Art Gallery. On the death of Mr. H. M. Gore in 1930 Mr. Eru D. Gore, his second son, succeeded him in the secretaryship, retaining the position until his death last year. Mr. R. B. Gore, grandfather of the new appointee, was at one time curator of the Colonial Museum, Wellington, and was also Interested in art.
