ROAD' SERVICES TIMETABLE ALTERATIONS MOTU-GISBORNE SERVICE COMMENCING on Monday, 3rd May, 1348, the following timetable will operate between Motu and Gisborne: POVERTY BAY CATCHMENT BOARD. SOIL CONSERVATION SUBSIDIES FARMERS and others are urged by the Board to take advantage of the present offer of financial assistance, for which applications will now be received, under the following schemes: 1. Soil Conservation Tree Planting Subsidy £2 for £l. Available for the purpose of assisting Farmers to undertake with own labour and materials tree planting that will have a soil conservation value upon their respective properties 2. Conservation Works Unit Subsidy £3 for £1 and £2 for £l. Available to Farmers whereby the Works Unit undertakes control works on eroded gullies and also protection of banks of fivers and streams. 3. Gully and Stream Control Subsidy £3 for £l. Whereby Farmers and others may undertake with own labour and materials erosion control works in eroding gullies. Also available for stream bank protection work where such is incidental to stabilisation of adjoining hillsides. 4. Minor River Protection Works Subsidy £1 for £l. Available for minor river bank protection or river diversion works designed for protection of alluvial flats. Expenditure by land holders under these schemes is classed as maintenance for taxation purposes. Further particulars in regard to any of foregoing schemes, together with application forms and advice on approved methods of erosion control, may be obtained upon application to the Board’s Office, 16 Childers Road, Gisborne.
