Majestic.—Today’s programme will be headed by M.G.M.'s delightful "Faithful in My Fashion,” starring Tom Drake and Donna Reed. Romance and comedy intermingle m this wistful yet hilarious story of a returning soldier and the girl he comes home to . . . and after a lot of post-war upsets . . . yes, they do live happily ever after! The associate drama, "Behind City Lights,” stars Lynne Roberts and Peter Cookson. Episode 7 of the serial. "Scarlet Horseman,” opens each session. , , . King’s.—Groucho. senior member of the Marx Brothers' team, is on hie own in "Copacabana," which heads the present programme at the King's Theatre. He is the author of a wealth of nonsense set against a background of night clubs, dancing girls and the exuberant personality of Carmen Miranda. The film includes songs by Gloria Jean, one of which numbers is "Strange Things Have Happened.” . . Kegent The big, new M.G.M. musical "Living In A Big Way” is now showing at the Regent Theatre. The film features Gene Kelly, popular star of "Anchor's A weigh. The picture unfolds the fast-moving, mirthful tale of the post-war troubles of a man who marries in haste but cannot repent at leisure because he is thrown into a whirlpool of complications. Teamed with Gene Kelly Is Mane McDonald, who wears outstanding Irene creations, mixes glamour with dramatic fireworks. allure with dancing, and pertness with pathos. Heading the supporting cast, are Charles Winninger, Phyllis Thaxtcr and Spring B.vington.
“Tony Draws a Horse.”—lt is seldom that the dominating charncter of a play ia not seen upon tho stage in the course of the performance, but such in the case with that sparkling comedy “Tony Draws A Horse” be presented by the Gisborne Repertory Society on May 3 and 4 at the Opera House. To learn just how this is achieved one must see the performance, but a most amusing set of circumstances is introduced by Leslie Storm to enable him to exploit the possibilities of such n plot. The witty dialogue and amusing situations are combined with swift movement. and the strong cast assembled by the society is making every effort to ensure that none of the humour ia lost in tho local presentation.
