EGYPTIAN AND IRAQI TROOPS MAY MOVE ON PALESTINE
(H a . m .) LONDON, April 26. Egypt has banned al) shipping from its territorial waters bordering southern Palestine from May 1 in what Arab sources said was a preliminary to “naval manoeuvres,’’ says the Associated Press correspondent in Cairo.
Observers consider the move may be connected with plans to reinforce the garrison of 10,000 Egyptian troops at A 1 Arish near the border or a possible march into the Holv Lana when or before the British mandate ended. Reuter’s correspondent in Cairo quotes a reliable report that the Iraqi Second Motorised Division of 10,000 to 12,000 men has left Baghdad for Amman, en route to Palestine, supported by a formation of Fury fighters, The division is expected to enter Palestine within 10 days. The Post Office announced the suspension of the air-mail service to and from civilians in Palestine.
