SEABED RESCUE
ENTOMBED DIVER PRESSURE HOSES USED NEW YORK, April 22. After being buried for more than three hours under 15 tons of silt 25ft below the surface of New York Harbour, a diver, Christiansen, was rescued today by the efforts of 12 frantically working divers. Christiansen had oeen at work on a telephone cable in a deep trench at the bottom of the bay when the walls of the trench suddenly collapsed, completely burying him The rescuers used high-pressure hose lines to play streams of water on the mud covering him. He was not harmed.
