8000 PEOPLE ATTEND

WELLINGTON CEREMONY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 26. There was good weather for Anzac Day in Wellington. Twenty-five services were held in the city and district, including five at dawn. The largest attended service was at the Citizens' War Memorial in the afternoon when about 8000 attended. One thousand two hundred ex-service-men were on parade. The main speaker was MajorGeneral H. E. Barrowclough, former commander of the Third Division. A wreath was laid at the War Memorial by the Prime Minister, Mr. P. Fraser. Members of the visiting delegation from the Australian Ex-servicemen’s League participated.

SINGAPORE CEREMONY (10 a.m.) SINGAPORE, April 25. Australian and New Zealand residents in Singapore commemorated Anzac Day with a special service at the Cenotaph this morning. It was attended by service chiefs, high Government officals, foreign consular representatives and other prominent people. Army, Navy and Air Force personnel participated, wreaths were laid and an Australian, Canon R. K. S. Adams, delivered a short address The deputy-Governor of Singapore, Mr. P. A. B. MacKerron, representing the Governor who is absent from Singapore, took the salute at the march past. Members of the Australian and New Zealand community held a lunch at the Seaview Hotel.
