CELTIC JUNIORS WIN
Celtic juniors defeated Marist by nine points to five in the closing stages of a spirited curtain-raiser on the Oval No. 1 ground. The winners opened with a fine try in the first half, the ball going from a scrum through the backs to the wing, O’Connor, who crossed wide out for a try. Early in the second half the Marist break-away forward, G. Trompson. dashed through from a line-out for a try about 10 yards from touch, the full-back, T. Tahi, converting with a fine kick. Play ranged between the twenty-fives in quick action with little to choose until the last 10 minutes during which the five-eighths, B. Brown, twice penetrated for tries to bring the Celtic tally to nine points. Mr. H. Duckworth was the referee.
