CALLING ALL INVINCIBLES

ACTION PLAN No. 35 (Sponsored by Gisborne and East Coast Y.M.C.A for Boys and Girls of Gisborne and District)

Several new clubs have been started at the Y.M.C.A. for Invincibles. Each Wednesday after school a group of boys come with models for the Meccano Club. There are a lot of very tine articles. Come along if you are interested.

Also, we have received an offer to start a Stamp Club. This will commence at 7 o’clock on Monday, May 3. So come along if you have a collection and would like to learn about mounting them. Lastly, we will remind you of the new club for junior cross country runners at 2 o'clock each Saturday afternoon from the Y.M.C.A. THE PADRE’S CORNER Tomorrow is Anzac Day. No doubt you have already been reminded of its meaning at schools and perhaps have already had your Anzac services. Tomorrow many of you will be attending the services which have been arranged. IS IT RIGHT TO REMEMBER It is right that we should remember. We should remember not so much the terrible stories of the fighting and the bombing and the killing. Certainly, we should never suppose that war is glorious or adventurous for it is not. It is cruel, and ugly, and bad. But we should remember that because they wanted to protect our land many men gave their lives. We should remember, too, that there are many who have come home blind, deaf, maimed, wounded. It should make us very humble and very thankful when we think that men died for you and me. OUR DUTY IS SOMETHING

as well that I have reminded you so that you will be able to save up your money to buy Mother a really good Mother’s Day present. But I am remembering it now so that I can give you a Bible searching competition on Bible Mothers. It will be good for us to be thinking, during this two weeks, of how wonderful mothers are. Here are the questions:— (1) The Mother of all living. Genesis 3 - „ X, (2) What was the name of the mother who took her little son to the Lord’s house to help Eli the priest: 1 Samuel 1. (3) Who was the mother who watched day and night, for months over the bodies of her sons who were hanged? 2 Samuel 21. (4) Whose son did Elisha cure ol sun-stroke? 2 Kings 4. (5) What was the name of the mother of John the Baptist? St. Luke ' (G) What was the name of the mother of Timothy? 2 Timothy 1. (7) Who was it who arranged with the king of Moab to keep his father and mother safely? - Samuel 22. (8) What was the name of the mother of the wisest king? t Kings L (9) When our Lord hung on the Cross what arrangement did He make for His mother? John 20. (10) What do the Ten Commandments tell us about our fathers and mothers? Exodus 20.12 Children in Group A, for whom this competition is too hard, win please print out for me as nicely as they can Exodus 20:12. Send by May 9 to "Bible Mothers’ Competition, "Padre,” V.M.C.A., Gisborne.

When we remember we should make up our minds to do something. First,' we should decide to do what we can to take care of those who are in need of help because of what they have suffered and lost in the war. You should also decide that _ when you grow up you will see to it that they are not forgotten. But there is something more that you should do on Anzac Day. It is to ask: "What can 1 do to help keep peace and to prevent war? There are many things that you can uo. You can read and study and try to understand other nations. You can make up your mind never to rate people just because they belong to other nations or have a different coloured skin. You can decide to support and help everybody who is trying to make peace. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING But this, I believe, is the most important thing that you can do. You can decide to love and serve Jesus, the Prince of Peace. For I believe that only as people begin to love Him., and to do what He wants them to do, i can there be peace in the world. When I we love Him we must seek to love all the people of every other nation j who love Him? If we don’t have peace in our j hearts, or in our homes, with our playmates and schoolmates, we can't expect to have it in the world, can we? So this is something we can all do now. Let Jesus bring peace and love into your hearts and Ihcn try to make peace everywhere you can. Will you find the hymn. "We are but Little Children Weak.” and see what it says about our helping to make peace? One verse says:— "With smiles of peace, and looks of love Light in our dwellings we may make.” BIBLE MOTHERS In two weeks’ time when this competition closes it will be one day before Mother’s Day. Perhaps it is just
