PHENOMENAL RAINFALL
Renowned on the East Coast for the high annual rainfall experienced, the Poroporo Valley, near Ruatoria, excelled itself during the 10 days from April 11 to 21. During that period 12.07 in. was gauged by Mr. J. J. Brownlie. Rain fell on every day between April 11 and 20, the heaviest falls being 2.53 in., 2.71 in., and 2.15 in. on April 17, 18 and 19 respectively. The lightest fall on any one of the days was .24in. on April 14.
