11,000 WORKERS IDLE
STRIKES IN SINGAPORE SINGAPORE. April 20. A total of 11,000 of Singapore’s workers are now on strike including stevedores, wharf labourers, telephone company emplovees and workers at the Puaubrani Tin smelter. In the Harbour Board area a virtual stoppage of work on all ships following the collapse today of the wharf labourers’ resistance to their left-wing union leaders’ strike order.
