VILLAGE DEMOLISHED HEADQUARTERS ATTACK (11 a.m.) JERUSALEM, April 20. Jewish planes bombed the headquarters of Fawzi El Kawakji, Com-mander-in-Chief of the Arab “Liberation Army,” five miles from Nablus, according to Arab reports. Haganah announced that Jewish forces broke into the village of Beir Surik, which the Arab army used as an advanced .headquarters, and demolished it with explosives. Husseini directed his losing fight to close the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv road from Beir Surik.
