IN MEMORIAM

Matenga.-In fond and loving memory of our only daughter and sister, Christina Mary, who passed away 21st April, 1946. Fallen asleep in Jesus, How precious is the word. Enjoying now for ever more, The presence of the Lord. This is not death, ’tis only sleep, The Lord doth now thy loved one keep. Thou wouldst have gladly kept her, A little longer here. To soothe, and nurse, and cherish, And make her wants thy care; But He, who doeth what is best. Hath called her Himself to rest. As members of one body, In sympathy we weep— And yet rejoice—because we know In Jesus she doth sleep. For all her pain and suffering’s o’er, And joy her portion ever more. 'Tis not "good-bye.” beloved, ’Tis only just "farewell.” A little while—a “moment.” We too with Christ shall dwell; And so we dry the falling tear. Because we know the Lord is near. You are always in our hearts. •—Mum and Dad, your loving brothers Dee, Bon. , Matenga.—Cherished memories of my one and only beloved sister, Christina Mary (Chris), who passed away April 21st, 1946 (accident). Twixt you and me, beloved Chris Death’s hung a mystic screen, Through which they say no human eye Hath ever, ever seen. And yet I hear your loving voice, In every wind that blows: I see your eyes in morning skies, Your face in every rose. And when at twilight time I walk Within our garden fair, I’m not alone—Oh. no. beloved, I know your spirit's there. I feel your kiss upon my cheek, The pressure of your hand. But only those who’ve loved as we, These things can understand. —Never forgotten by her loving brother Son.
