SLIGHT DECLINE
COUPON COLLECTION ASSISTANCE FOR BRITAIN Food coupon surrenders as an aid-for-Britain measure in the Gisborne postal district for the week_ ending April 17 showed a slight decline, but nevertheless a high average is being maintained. , A total of 162 butter coupons, equal to 811 b. of butter, and 9378 meat coupons, or £156 6s in cash value, was received during the week. The schools that were prominent in last week's effort were the Tikitiki Maori School, where 684 meat coupons were collected; Te Hapara School, 725 meat coupons; and Kaiti School, 21 butter and 685 meat coupons. The number of coupons cancelled by the postmasters at Te Araroa, Tokomaru Bay and Tolaga Bay was excellent. Gisborne’s silent street appeal last Friday produced 693 meat coupons. The fat collected last week totalled 731 b. , , Coupon surrenders credited to the main post offices in the Gisborne district for the week ended April' 17 were:—
