AERIAL VIEWS
GISBORNE FROM ABOVE CHAMBER EXHIBITION A perspective of Gisborne which only a limited number of people have seen, that of the town from the air, is offered in a number of large coloured photographs at present being displayed in the Chamber of Commerce rooms to members of the chamber. Organised by W r hites Aviation, Limited, an Auckland firm specialising in aerial photography, the display includes views of the business area, the suburbs and various places of interest adjacent to the town. Pride of place is given to four large hand-coloured photographs of the town and surburbs taken from different angles. Practically every house in the borough can be picked out in one or otha' of the photographs and the colouring is particularly true to detail. Smaller coloured photographs of the various townships on the East Coast complete the coverage of the district. Smaller plate photographs of the Wailtanae Beach, the Gisborne Intermediate School, the Makaraka racecourse and several other points of interest which stand out well from (he air are also included in the display. Gisborne is one of the last towns in New Zealand to be visited by Mr. L. L Thomas, sales manager of he firm, with the display of aerial photographs. He has exhibited aerial photographs of practically every town in New Zealand throughout the Dominion and has found a ready response by progressive bodies who have bought the large: exhibits to hang in buildings where they will catch the traveller’s eye. Various scenic attractions throughout the Dominion are also portrayed in a series of large coloured photographs. Many of these are aerial “shots”, while others are ground ones from an uncommon angle.
