SHOOTING FROM 600 YARDS RIFLE CLUB MARKSMEN Dropping only one point at the GOO yards range under difficult conditions of visibility W J. Burton provided the outstanding target in the weekly handicap match of the Gisborne Defence Rifle Club at the Sponge Bay range on •Saturday. Ten shots were fired from each of the 100yds. and GCOyds. mounds. With the low handicap of one Burton returned the winning aggregate of 96. T. Lamberton, in reaching the club standard score of 95, filled second place while P. Griffen. a first-year member of the club, took the third prize with a similar gross score, counting out G Cumming on the Bisley count back. In., the 500yds- practice. F. J. Jeune registered the ton score of 48, followed hv R. O. Bull with 47. With the season's programme well advanced interest is centred on the championship aggregates, few points separating the leaders in each grade. F. J. Jeune leads V/. J. Burton by four points in the A grade contest, only three points behind Burton.

R. Dolman leads in the B Grade championship, followed by T. Lamberton. who has improved his place in his last few shoots. Recently Mr. A. Ford, an old member of the club, donated a handsome cup for competition among C grade members. At present R. Andrews has a small lead over F. Lloyd with T. Evans in third place in this competition.
