CHILDREN’S PART

COUPON COLLECTION

ASSISTANCE FOR BRITAIN School children are again playing an important part in the aid-for-Britain scheme in the Gisborne district and are collecting a large proportion of the butter and meat coupons cancelled by postmasters. Although the number of coupons collected last week was not as large as during the previous week, good results were obtained throughout the Gisborne postal district. If the present whole-hearted support in the campaign continues during the remainder of 1948 the Gisborne district is assured of eyen greater success than that achieved in 1947. For the week ended March 14, 561 butter coupons, equal' to 280 Jib. of butter, and 14,934 meat coupons, equivalent to £248 18s in cash value, were surrendered in the Gisborne district. The silent street appeal in the town area last Friday resulted in 811 meat and two butter coupons being received. The fat collected during the week totalled 1031 b. Coupon surrenders credited to the main post offices in the Gisborne district for the week ended March 14
