BANKING ACT CASE DR. EVATT’S SUBMISSION (10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 16. The trading banks’ claim that the Banking Act 1947, contravened section 92 of the Constitution guaranteeing freedom of inter-State trade were the most important objections of all, said Dr. H. V. Evatt, in the Full High Court yesterday when the bank case entered its twenty-fifth day. He claimed, however, that tKe Commonwealth case was clearly established by Privy Council judgments in two well-known constitutional cases.
