SIGNAL GOOD AUTUMN RACE FRANCES’ THOMPSON (P A.) WELLINGTON, March 15. The Wellington Racing Club's autumn meeting opened at Trentham on Saturday in fine weather. The track was firm and fast. Excellency established a new race and track record for seven furlongs when she won the North Island Challenge Stakes in 1.24. Indian Dawn dislodged- her rider, L. J. Ellis, when she stumbled and fell 100yds. from the finish in the Autumn Handicap when lying third. The accident was caused by Solas boring out. The stewards found J. Campbell, rider of Selas, not guilty of causing interference, but suggested to Mr. F. Ormond, owner of Selas, that he take steps to overcome the horse’s boring tendencies. There was an average attendance. The totalisator handled £180.357, compared with £171,975 10s last year, an increase of £B3BI 10s.
