ARRIVAL IN N.Z.
EMINENT SCOTSMAN WORLD SITUATION VIEWS (P.A.) WELLINGTON*, March 9. ‘‘The outlook is not bright and the fall of Czechoslovakia is grave, indeed. However, it is gratifying to know that the position is being faced swiftly by both Britain and the United States," said the Very Rev. Professor John Baillie, who with his wife arrived from Australia on the Wahine today.
Professor Baillie, who is professor of theology at the University of Edinburgh, 'is visiting New Zealand as the representative of the Church of Scotland at the Otago centennial celebrations.
Professor Baillie considered that the extension of the Marshall Plan to Germany was a pleasing move towards stability. Russia’s ultimate intention, he thought, would probably remain a hidden secret for a long time. In the course of a six weeks’ visit Professor Bailie will visit the main centres in New Zealand.
