PEGGING OF DIVIDENDS
COMPANIES’ UNDERTAKING (11.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 12. The president of the Federation of British Industries, Sir Frederick Bain, informed the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Stafford Cripps, that the chairmen of 380 companies with a total market value of over £2,000,000,000 have promised not to recommend their shareholders to declare a larger dividend next year on the same amount of capital than they declared for the past year.
