COAST PRIEST GETS ONLY 25 GALLONS OF PETROL TO COVER 3500-SQ. MILE PARISH
WMTH probably three of the largest parishes in the country, the three clergymen living in Tokomaru Bay and Waipiro Bay have more mileage to cover than the majority of their brethren.
During the war the petrol allocation to the three incumbents was 45 gallons each, but the new allocation is only 25 gallons—lo more than for a town parish. This ration takes no account of the size of the car. nor of the territory to be covered.

W. G. Bird covers a parish from Hicks Ba J *°, half-way between* Tolaga Bay anc * Tokomaru Bay. It is understood that representations are being made to a higher authority to have the allocation increased and the matter may be brought to the notice of the Minister concerned.
