TRACK^EVENTS WOMEN’S ATHLETICS JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, March 13. A muddy track and showers of heavy rain hampered the opening events of the sixtn junior and women's national track and field championships at the Olympic Stadium. Tiie heats of several of the women’s sprint events resulted in surprises, marking the defeat of the title-holders, Miss R. Dowman (Auckland) in the 75 and 100 yards sprints and of Miss N. Gourley (Otago) in the 80 metres hurdles.
The most important event of the day was the junior mile, won in good style by M. Golder (Auckland) from N. Sherring (Wellington) and J. Sloan (Hawke's Bay). Results, with centres designated A..
