SHIP STRANDED
N.S.W.JCOAST VESSEL LOSES RUDDER PREVIOUS MISHAP SYDNEY, March 11. After losing her rudder and running ashore about 12 miles south of Newcastle, the small wooden coaster Illalong is reported fast on Belmont Beach, with her crew ashore. The vessel was en route from Sydney to Newcastle with general cargo and jute fabric. She has been inspected by Lloyd's representative, but it has yet to be decided whether an attempt will be made to refloat her.
The vessel is 40 years old, but was recently refitted at heavy cost. Last May, when she was named Boambee, she sank at her berth in Newcastle harbour.
