MINOR EVENTS AT TRENTHAM

Vassilikos <2), 9.9, will not start unless rain lulls Gyncrio (14), 9.5, a recent hurdle winner, is not over-looked. Sergeant Jack (21), 9.5, failed to stay at Woodvillc recently. Mine Host (4), 9.7, including 5 lb. re-handicap, won last Saturday at Opaki. Arctic Circle (11), 9.1, has a couple of minor placings this season—just a rough show. Of those weighted on the minimum, Rondclle 117), Sunshine Bay (6), Helio (7), and Newel Post (13), on form, read best. PLUNKET NURSERY HCP.

Vadoz (8), 9.5, in his last start was third at Woodvillc with 9.10, which was prefaced by a win at Wellington over six furlongs with 8.11. Air Belle (7), 8.9, second at Masterton, should now be all the better for that run. Buchanan (29), 8.9. a winner in his last two starts, looks like being a favourite here. Blue Seal (5), 8.7, won solidly at Woociviiio—nis ins: start. Bolivar (1), 8.5, is one that is being waited for. Finigin (10), 8.3, at Dunedin last month won well the first day and then in his next round was an "also started”. Irresisiable (9), 8.2, in his last start was second at Trentham to Balkis and was seen finishing on at the end of the six furlongs. Golden Arrow (11), 8.1, would appreciate an easy track. Ilarleyholm (6), 8.0, is not racing up to early expectations, having won at his lust attempt. Lord Azure (10), 8.0, has gone up 71b. for his Opaki win and on that form must be considered. iUussclman (13). 7.13. is another that did better in the earlier part of the season. Blue Spec (22). 7.12, has n consistent place record. Perdita (12), 7.8, at best is only average. There are 15 others weighted at 7.5 and under, but a win by any of that lot would be a surprise. TINAKOEI HACK HANDICAP False Step (7), 9.2, won well the other day, but at the weight, needs to go even better than she has done in the past Diameter (11), 9.0. was a little unlucky in his last start at Trentham, and in his one start since ran below expectations at the C.J.C. mid-summer meeting. Bay Fort (19), 8.3( has not raced since his last appearance at Trentham, I when he ran second and third. PerI haps he has been kept in reserve. 1 Colorado Maid (10), 8.3, has no show. | Bonnie Fair (9), 8.2, might surprise, i particularly if the going is easy. Commercial (22), 8.2, was a close third at Opaki, but the company was weak. Paper Ruffle (3), 8.6, has won twice recently. However, she is not a strong tip. Reveller (21), 7.13, will be at liberal odds. Garry (4), 7.12, on form has no chance. Sly Gold (20), 7.11, is just a moderate at best. Trafalgar Day (5), 7.11, has not raced since winning the Trial at the Pahiatua meeting at the end of January.

| Lady Myrtle (8), 7.9, was well and ' truly beaten into third at Opaki last week-end. Ronald McDonald (2), 7.9. comes from Riccarton with a great reputation and will need only to be half as good to dispose of this lot. Royal Baron (1), 7.8. and Blue Pier (13), 7.7, make up the field. SILVERSTREAM HACK HCP. Cambridge (1), 9.4, is a solid staver and must be as tough as the next best. Bceeluvood (16), 8.12, was second last week at Banks Peninsula, but has not won since August. Culloden Moor (8), 8.10, might prefer the Ilighweight. Coral Arc (2), 8.9, has not raced since the spring, when he won a mile race at the New Zealand Cup meeting to come on at the right end. Haere I-luka (7). 8.9. is an honest if not a first-class hack. Ilorouta (10), 8.4, likes the going soft Brantford (3), 8,3, failed recently when tried ever a middle-distance Master Fox (9). 8.3, although not thrown into discard, is not a strong recommendation on his Egmont showings. lox flame (18), 8.2, has not raced since winning the Hack Cup (10 furlongs) at the Ashhurst meeting, Lord Holland (12J, 8.2. had cverv chance on Saturday, but weakened at the end of a mile. Flirtatious (14). 8.1, is not fancied on last week's form Tuki N'gapo (5), 8.0. despite his defeat the other day, is capable of providing a surprise. Minion (15), 7.13. who is consistent, was second last week down south in a highvveight. Bobby Dazzler (19), 7.12, was third both days at Dunedin over middledistances. Commercial (17), 7.12, lias just a rough chance. Torrent (13), 7.11, on her second the other day is a place possibility Kuniari (6), 7.10, is not fancied Maryburn (4), 7.13. won easilv over nine furlongs last week-end. with Beechwood second. Super Lake (11). 7.12. was a winner nt Opaki when fighting on gamely at the end of a mile.
