ERISKAY NARROWLY WINS CUP - DISAPPOINTING RACE

DUNEDIN CENTENNIAL MEETING

(P.A.) DUNEDIN, Ecb. 27. The Dunedin Jockey Club’s Centennial Cup meeting opened yesterday in fine weather and before a record crowd. The track was in excellent order. The Centennial Cup, which had the largest stake offered for a meeting south of Iticcarlon, was a disappointing race owing to the muddling pace set for most of the journey. The meeting took the place of the autumn one. The totalisator handled £94,091 10s, as against £40,185 on the first day of the autumn meeting last year, which was held on a Saturday. Filibeg fractured a sesamoid bone in the Hurdles, but it is hoped to save him. EARLY SETTLERS’ HURDLES, ol £500; I? miles.—o-8 INCITATUS, 9/* (E. Hunt), 1; 2 1 PERCY. 9,4 (B. S.
