UNESSENTIAL GOODS | RESTRICTIONS IN BRITAIN LONDON, Feb. x 4 The President of the Board of Trade, Mr. Harold Wilson, announced that he had signed orders, to be effective on March 15, designed in accordance with Sir- Stafford Cripps’ policy, announced on February 12, to prevent a provocative increase in prices and profits which would strengthen dem""ds for increased wages. The new orders covered 160 unessential items which were formerly under only loose control. The orders also forbade manufacturers to pass to the consumer the cost of wage increases resulting from wage agreements after February 4 unless the Board of Trade consented.
