WIN FOR TIKIRAU RUATORIA CLUB VISIT (Herald Correspondent.) That the interchange of matches between tennis clubs on the top end of the Coast has been conducive of a higher standard o£ play was amply borne out when Ruatoria was beaten by Tikirau. This return match was played in lovely weather on the tine memorial courts at Cape Runaway. A fine exhibition of stroking and variation in length and pace was given by Miss L. Karauti. who met a worthy opponent in Miss P. Wairau, Te Kaha, and a popular win with Ruatoria supporters was that of 11. Hansen and Miss A. Doherty over V. Sotheran and Mrs. Kerei in the last game of the day. .Morning and afternoon teas, and a full course dinner were provided, for which thanks were tendered bv Mr. T. Seymour and Mrs. K. Milner on behalf of Ruatoria after a welcoming speech by Mr. Sid Waititi and a post-mortem on the match by Mr. 11. Mato, nonplaying captain for Tikirau. TE ARAROA TENNIS BALL A very large crowd representing the Coast from Cape Runaway to Tokomaru Bay gathered at the Rongomaitapui dining hall, Te Araroa, ‘or the Mokonui tennis ball. The hall was attractively decorated with palm fronds and on this occasion, an unusually large percentage of European visitors, as well as Maori, enjoyed the e..cellent supper of cold poultry, fruit salad, trifle and other delicacies provided by the Mokonui ladies and friends. Mr. W. Tibbie was the M.C. and the orchestra comprising Mokonui cluo members making their first appearance together, played well. The visitors were thanked for their patronage by Mr. M. Waititi, chairman of the Moko nui Tennis Club, who announced that just on £IOO had been taken during the evening’s entertainment.
