DUNEDIN CENTENARY ‘CAVALCADE OF PROGRESS’ (P.A.) DUNEDIN, Feb. 24. One of the most colourful and arresting processions in the history of New Zealand was staged today in Dunedin as part of the centennial celebrations of Otago. The procession was designated “Cavalcade of Progress” and depicted the development of the province from the arrival of the first settlors 100 years ago, There were over (it) massive floats in the parade. All were more than 20It. long, lift wide and 12ft high. Great crowds thronged the city streets to witness the procession. Particular interest was shown in the floral floats. Some of these carried intricate patterns into which hundreds of thousands of blooms had been woven.
