BRITISH PRIORITY
BUTTER FROM DOMINION BULK PURCHASE PLAN (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 15. Butter supplies from New Zealand could not be diverted to Canada or elsewhere except at the request of the British Ministry of Food and it was unlikely that Britain would give permission for the export of large quantities to other countries, said an official of the Dairy Produce Marketing Commission today. Under the bulk purchase contract practically all of New Zealand’s butter and cheese was sent to the United Kingdom. A small quantity was allocated to areas like the West Indies and Malaya which normally had to import dairy produce and New Zealand sent small token shipments to countries which were pre-war markets.
