TWO SHIPS ON FIRE

SEQUEL TO COLLISION t DISTRESS RADIO CALLS (10 a.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 15. Two unidentified ships, both tankers, are reported to be on fire as a result of a collision near Caracas Bay, Curacao. Radio messages reporting that the vessels were in distress were picked up by the Globe wireless The British motor-ship San Efiseo reported that she is standing by. The Coastguard reported that the air is jammed with distress calls in the area, "clouding” positive identification of the ships and details of their condition.

Radio messages received at San Juan, Puetro Rico, described the tankers as the Los Pozos and the Cucupita. After the collision there was dn explosion aboard the Cucupita and later she could be seen blazing about a mile off shore with no sign of life visible. The Los Pozos was also afire but is less badly damaged. Another message says the Los Pozos belongs to the Argentine and the Cucupita to Venezuela. At least four men are reported killed and several are missing.
