AIRCRAFT BUSY
FLIGHTS OVER BELLONA 41 PASSENGERS CARRIED On the first occasion on which it has been in a position to offer Gisborne residents passenger flights the two machines of the Gisborne Aero Club carried 41 joy-riders during the weekend. H.M.N.Z.S. Bellona, which is lying in the roadstead, was made the focal point for the passenger flights. Although of fairly short duration, Gisborne residents were able to obtain an excellent, close-up view of the ship. Flying conditions on Saturday afternoon were not particularly good, but yesterday conditions were excellent, and all of the passengers, some of whom were making their first flight, expressed their pleasure at the short trip. Yesterday afternoon both aircraft were kept busy. . A total of 20 flying hours was logged by the two machines during the weekend on both passenger and training flights. In view of the interest taken in the flights during the past week-end, it is understood that representations will be made to the club to consider the institution of passenger flights over various points of interest in the district on several days during the coming Christmas holidays and at week-ends.
