DELICATE STAGE
TRADE NEGOTIATIONS BRITAIN AND CANADA (9 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 14. Talks on food, trade and finance between the representatives of British and Canadian Governments in Ottawa have reached a delicate stage, but there is no suggestion of a breakdown, reports the Times Parliamentary correspondent. Contrary to some reports, there has been no communication between Mr C. R. Attlee and Mr W. Mackenzie King, but their intervention may become necessary. Canada argues that the British proposals reduce their purchases of Canadian livestock, while continuing to take wheat would upset the balance of Canadian agricultural production. Canada holds that if some of the food contracts are revised she has a right also to revise the wheat contract. The representatives are considering various alternative proposals.
