WINNER OF £12,500

KAIKOURA NEWSAGENT (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 13. Mr. Percy Morris, newsagent, of Kaikoura, has won a prize of £12,500 in an overseas lottery on the Melbourne Cup. He held a ticket for a quarter share of the £50,000 prize. Mr Morris bought $ series of six tickets and the winning number was the second in the run. Instead of using his name, as he usually does, Mr. Morris, who has been buying tickets for a number of years, went under the initials of "P.M.” His only previous success has been 8 win of £5. Looking through the list, Mr. Morris found that the number of one of his tickets corresponded with thst of the prize-winner, but, unable to believe his gbod fortune, he called in another man to check his finding. Last evening he said that he had no plan about spending the money and would not have any until he received it. He intends to carry on business in Kaikoura as usual. -
