FRIENDSHIP TREATY
AND SPAIN NO CONFLICT. WITH U.N. (9 a ~ia.y MANILA, Sept. 28. ' The Philippines Foreign Secretary, Senor Elpididio Quirino, and the SpanMinister to the Philippines, Sen9r Teodomiro De Aguilar, .declared in the Joint press conference today that the' new Spanish-Philippines Treaty of Jrieiidship, signed yesterday, did not violate the United Nations anti-Span-fSK resolution. They called’the conference after some Manila newspapers -suggested' that the treaty conflicted ■yyith the United Nations’ ■ resolution, which resulted in member nations recalling, their ambassadors and ministers from Madrid. Senor Quirino asserted that the resolution .did hot prohibit any member haying-friendly relations with Spain, but should United Nations decide to cut off. entirely all relations with Spain it would then be time for Philippines to discontinue the treaty with the former, mother country.
