NORTHERN INDIA RIVERS BREAK BANKS CROCODILES ATTACK BOAT (11.45 am.) NEW DELHI, Sept. 21 Two thousand people have been drowned in floods from Northern India’s two largest rivers, the Ganges and the Jumna. Nearly 1,000,000 persons suffered from the floods. Ninety-five villages are under water and 150,000 people arc homeless and face famine and disease as the watch's recede. Crocodiles yesterday attacked an evacuation boat as it struggled against the fioodwaters of the Ganges. An old woman, one of a family of 10. was the only survivor of the 25 persons on board.
