LARGE SCALE CLASHES
UKRANIAN PARTISANS WELL-EQUIPPED FORCES FRANKFURT, Sept. 18. A United States Army report states that the Ukrainian resistance army, composed of anti-Communist partisans fighting for Ukranian independence, is so large that units of 15,000 to 20,000 men have engaged Polish and Russian troops in pitched battles. The resistance army is armed with mortars, light artillery and heavy machine-guns as well as with rifles.
