PACIFIC BASES VISITED
U.S. AIRCRAFT RETURNS (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 22. After flying 6200 miles round the Pacific in nine days, a party of New Zealand and United States officers returned to Paraparaumu on Saturday afternoon. , The islands visited included Norfolk, Fiji, Samoa, Aitutaki, Raratonga and Tongatabu. _ , ,_ _ Commenting on the trip, Colonel F, E. Cookson, United States military attache, said it had been a very pleasant one. The flight was organised by Lieut.Colonel O. H. Rigley, air and military attache on the staff of the United States legation. The members of the party included Brigadier W. G. Gentry, Group Captain W. C. Sheen, Wing Commander I A Scott, Wing Commander L. S. F. Taylor and Mr D. Woolf, of the commercial attache’s section of the United States Legation.
