BACK-MARKER WINS MATCH PLAY AT AWAPUNI Chief interest in play during the week-end on the P.B. Golf Club’s links at Awapuni centred in the second-round championship match between E. SToogood and J. Mansfield, in which Toogood was successful only after playing an extra hole, the game being all square at the eighteenth. Birdies at the third and fifth holes put Mansfield ahead in the early stages, and he held that margin up to the thirteenth, where Toogood had a bit of luck with a rebound off a tree which saved him from an excursion into the rough, Mansfield putting his next out of bounds and losing the hole. Toogood won the seventeenth also and they halved the eighteenth, final victory resting with the low-handicap player after the extra hole had been played.
