4 BILLS TO BE DISCUSSED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. Discussing next week’s business of the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon the Prime Minister, Mr. P. Fraser, stated that as the Minister of Works. Mr R. Semple, had to attend a power boards’ conference it was intended on Tuesday to deal with the bills in which he was concerned, these being the Lake Taupo Compensation Claims Bill and the Electric Power Board’s Amendment Bill, as well as the International Air Services Licensing Bill.
If the House agreed, the Statute of Westminster Bill could be taken on Wednesday evening, but if it was desired that this measure should be first considered by a select committee, the House could deal with .the Estimates on Wednesday evening. The Price > Control Bill would be taken on Thursday. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. S. G. Holland, said that his party desired to facilitate the business and had granted a pair for the Minister of Works. Mr. Holland added that he had been invited to the power boards’ conference. but it was not because of indifference that he was obliged to refuse. as he left it was his duty to be in the House.
