RUMOURS REFUTED

DUTY ON GIFT PARCELS J-FORCE CONCESSIONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 18. Current rumours that full duty would have to be paid in future on gift parcels from members of J-Force in Japan were refuted today by the Minister of Finance, Mr. W. Nash. There was no intention of interfering with the existing privileges whereby members ot J Force were allowed to bring in goods up to the value or £5 without incurring duty, said Mr. Nash. This provision had always been generously interpreted, but some gross abuses had rendered closer examination necessary. No member of (he forces who was keeping the rules need have any concern on the subject, said Mr. Nash.
