OWN HOMES BURNED
FANATICAL DOUKHOBORS (10.30 a.m.) VANCOUVER, Aug. 24. As a protest against the “coming of a third world war,” fanatical Doukhobors are burning down their own homes, says a message from Castclgar, British Columbia. It was earlier reported that bands of naked men and women—apparently members of a radical Doukhobor sect known as Sons of Freedom—were setting fire to orthodox schools, farms and homes in a wave of night raids. Two Doukhobor families took all their furniture and clothes outside, moved Into tents and set fire to their homes and watched them burn. 4?
Another protest fire burned out a house whose owner claimed that he, too, had received a message to protest against a third world war.
