TROOPS FOR JAPAN
DEPARTURE THIS WEEK VOYAGE ON KANIMBLA (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. The Australian ship Kanimbla is expected to call at Auckland on Wednesday to embark approximately 200 service personnel for J. Force, states the Army Department. This party consists of troops returning to duty in Japan after special leave in New Zealand and also a small supplementary relief draft. These troops are at present in camp at Papakura and it is anticipated that they will embark on Thursday afternoon and that the Kanimbla will sail immediately afterwards. On her return voyage the Kanimbla will bring back to New Zealand the remaining J Force personnel who arh due for repatriation. Aboard the Kanimbla are seven New Zealand servicemen who are travelling from Australia to Japan. These men were selected towards the end of last year for training in the Japanese-lan-guage with a view to acting as interpreters with the occupation forces. They left for Australia early in January of this year, and having now successfully completed courses there are going to Japan to take up the duties for which they have been trained.
